Merry Christmas!

For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" ~ Luke 2:11-14

Blessings to you and yours today and always.

I am fortunate enough to have lovely memories of Christmas Eve's past.
I always attended the Candlelight Christmas Eve Service with my parents, three older sisters and my little brother.  Aunts, Uncles and cousins were also there.  Afterwards, we would have a lovely get together at my cousin's house. As we grew older, married and had children of our own, the gathering took place at my parent's house.

This year, I am really missing my mom and dad and my brother.  I cherish those wonderful memories and hold them close to my heart.

A wonderful Christmas Eve to all of you and may you be blessed with beautiful moments to cherish now and in the future.

Lying in a Manger

It's getting closer!  Only 2 weeks until Christmas Eve.  It always goes too fast.  I love all the Hallmark movies and just about anything Christmas.

Most of my Christmas cards are made to donate.  This one is no exception.  It went to the Caring Hearts Card Drive.  Cards are collected and delivered to Nursing Homes.  I can't imagine the work that it takes to gather and distribute these cards.  Big kudos to all the wonderful ladies who give of their time.  I am not a fast card maker, but I did manage to make 35 cards and the envelopes that went with them.  It is a real privilege to do this.  I always wish I would have started sooner!

This beautiful stamp is by Unity Stamp Company.

Twas the Night Before Christmas Challenge

It's time for another fun challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and more.  I found this one very challenging.  I bought this cute Penny Black stamp just for this challenge.  This is a very large stamp.  It takes up most of the size of an A2 size card.  After coloring, the image was just too plain, so I added the floor.  Still not satisfied, I looked in my stash of misc. elements and found these Spellbinders corners.  That did it for me.  Happy with it.  This card will be going to one of our very special US Veterans.

Winter Birthday Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and More

Oh....those winter birthdays.   My daughter was born on January 8th (also Elvis's birthday).  It was one of the worst winters in Ohio history.  We lost our heat and water on one of the worst days.  A newborn and a 4 year old with no heat or water was quite the challenge.  We had below zero temperatures, with wind chill factors of 50 below for several days!  It was known as the Great Blizzard of 1978, also known as the White Hurricane.  I thought this adorable image by Mo Manning fit perfectly.  Actually the snow was several feet deeper!

We always had to plan ahead for her presents because the toy shelves were empty after Christmas.  We did get caught empty handed a couple of years.  Sorry, Steph.

Share Handmade Kindness Challenge

Happy Sunday!  Jennifer McGuire is hosting a wonderful challenge on her blog.  The first challenge is to share handmade kindness with friends and family.  I chose to send this card to my daughter who has been going through a rough patch.  I admire her so much.  She is a single mom and gives so much to her daughter.  I thought this cutie from Sassy Cheryl would bring a little smile and lift her spirits.

This challenge brought a few things to light.  When my daughter was young and through her college years, I always sent her cards and little notes of love.  As she grew older and was out on her own, I guess that fell by the wayside.  Throw an adorable granddaughter into the picture and all the attention goes to her.  Everyone needs a little kindness every now and then.  I am going to put more effort into showing my daughter just that.

The challenge continues through the month of November with different challenges each week.  All types of handmade kindness apply, baking, sewing, knitting, etc.  Here is the link if you would like to participate.

Thank You Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and more

Thank you is always a good thing and with perfect timing for this Crafty Cardmakers and more Challenge, right before Thanksgiving.  If you have been wanting to thank someone, now is the time and you can join in the fun at the same time!

I made this card for some very special people.  They own the golf course that my mom and dad were members of for many years.  I learned to golf there when I was 14 and played in the ladies league for a number of years.  I still golf, although not as often.

While searching for a golf stamp, I came across this adorable stamp from Di's Digistamps.  She has some really cute golf stamps with these little mice.  I didn't realize that one was a girl and one was a boy until I was ready to color the little mouse with the visor.  So fitting and it just makes me smile.

She was an awesome golfer.  My mom and husband had an ongoing challenge with a new golf jacket to my husband if he could beat my mom's score.  My husband always wanted to beat her score - just once!  He never did......
She finally just bought him a jacket for Christmas one year!

Autumn Colors - Crafty Cardmakers and more Challenge

I chose to use this cute little digi stamp from Pink Gem Designs.  They have a lot of adorable stamps.

I was going to make her a blonde, but the hair came out darker then I wanted.  I was going to continue and add darker brown to just go totally brunette.  But, I have gotten in trouble trying to fix cards and end up ruining them, so I just went with it.

Crafty Cardmakers and More Challenge - Circle Card

Happy Monday!  Hope you will join us for this circle card challenge # 149 at Crafty Cardmakers and More.

I know it is early for a Christmas card, but I just received these adorable stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn and couldn't wait to try them out.  I love all the little critters, but I definitely need some practice coloring them.

I am not thrilled with the red glitter embossing powder - time to try another brand. My husband suggested the silver background.  I think it turned out rather nicely.

Welcome baby!

Hello all.  I made this card for our neighbors new baby boy.  Hmm, I didn't realize it until now, this is the very first baby card that I have made.  I am really loving all the sweet critter images that several stamp companies are coming out with.  Of course, they are nice to use for any age.

Envelope

Card and Envelope together

I tried my hand at watercolor this time. I do like the way most of it turned out.
The grass....not so much. I had a hard time getting the watercolor paper to adhere to the card base.  It keeps  pulling up around the edges and I continue to add different types of glue.  Even my no fail glue, Aleene's super thick tacky glue is not working.  I just better get this card to Wyatt before it falls apart or he graduates from college!

"Make it Sparkle" Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and more

Hello all!  This is my first card as a Design Team member for Crafty Cardmakers and more.  I am very excited to be a part of a design team again.  I look forward to creating with the team and being inspired by all of you!

The challenge this week is to "Make it Sparkle!"  Any form of sparkle is allowed. I hope you decide to play along. I have used Stickles on her tutu, the floor and the centers of the flowers on the embossing folder.  Wink of Stella added a little sparkle to the stars.

New House, New Craft Room, New Card!

Hello all!  Well, we moved in May and my craft room has just now been set up and I am finally able to work in it.  It is still a work in progress, but I am crafting!

I wanted the first card that I made to be for someone special.  Her name is Mary and she was a good friend to my younger brother Scott who passed away last year.
Thank you, Mary.

This sweet little image is "Miss You Lots" by Wplus9.

The background was inspired by Christy Sugiarto of Christy Designs.
She did an absolutely beautiful design with watercolors.  You can see it here.
I used Copic markers for my card.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is one of my favorite days of the year.  I have wonderful memories of my mom making corned beef and cabbage.  The last time I was able to enjoy it was before we moved south from Ohio in 1989.  My niece, Bridget has carried on the tradition most years since.  The years pass too quickly, but I hold on to those cherished moments.  I have dreamed of going to Ireland since I was a little girl.  We are planning for next year to be the one!  I have a few things on my bucket list while there:  to hike Croagh Patrick, golf, research family history and to see Northern Ireland.

I love this sweet image from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I thought he would be perfect for a card for my Aunt Dorothy.
