Twas the Night Before Christmas Challenge

It's time for another fun challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and more.  I found this one very challenging.  I bought this cute Penny Black stamp just for this challenge.  This is a very large stamp.  It takes up most of the size of an A2 size card.  After coloring, the image was just too plain, so I added the floor.  Still not satisfied, I looked in my stash of misc. elements and found these Spellbinders corners.  That did it for me.  Happy with it.  This card will be going to one of our very special US Veterans.

Winter Birthday Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and More

Oh....those winter birthdays.   My daughter was born on January 8th (also Elvis's birthday).  It was one of the worst winters in Ohio history.  We lost our heat and water on one of the worst days.  A newborn and a 4 year old with no heat or water was quite the challenge.  We had below zero temperatures, with wind chill factors of 50 below for several days!  It was known as the Great Blizzard of 1978, also known as the White Hurricane.  I thought this adorable image by Mo Manning fit perfectly.  Actually the snow was several feet deeper!

We always had to plan ahead for her presents because the toy shelves were empty after Christmas.  We did get caught empty handed a couple of years.  Sorry, Steph.

Share Handmade Kindness Challenge

Happy Sunday!  Jennifer McGuire is hosting a wonderful challenge on her blog.  The first challenge is to share handmade kindness with friends and family.  I chose to send this card to my daughter who has been going through a rough patch.  I admire her so much.  She is a single mom and gives so much to her daughter.  I thought this cutie from Sassy Cheryl would bring a little smile and lift her spirits.

This challenge brought a few things to light.  When my daughter was young and through her college years, I always sent her cards and little notes of love.  As she grew older and was out on her own, I guess that fell by the wayside.  Throw an adorable granddaughter into the picture and all the attention goes to her.  Everyone needs a little kindness every now and then.  I am going to put more effort into showing my daughter just that.

The challenge continues through the month of November with different challenges each week.  All types of handmade kindness apply, baking, sewing, knitting, etc.  Here is the link if you would like to participate.

Thank You Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and more

Thank you is always a good thing and with perfect timing for this Crafty Cardmakers and more Challenge, right before Thanksgiving.  If you have been wanting to thank someone, now is the time and you can join in the fun at the same time!

I made this card for some very special people.  They own the golf course that my mom and dad were members of for many years.  I learned to golf there when I was 14 and played in the ladies league for a number of years.  I still golf, although not as often.

While searching for a golf stamp, I came across this adorable stamp from Di's Digistamps.  She has some really cute golf stamps with these little mice.  I didn't realize that one was a girl and one was a boy until I was ready to color the little mouse with the visor.  So fitting and it just makes me smile.

Number 15 is where my mom had a hole in one!
She was an awesome golfer.  My mom and husband had an ongoing challenge with a new golf jacket to my husband if he could beat my mom's score.  My husband always wanted to beat her score - just once!  He never did......
She finally just bought him a jacket for Christmas one year!
